Nevertheless it’s impractical for most persons to have a real organ at home and it’s in such situations that a virtual organ can be very valuable. Not the least important reason is that, even if it’s available at only a fraction of the cost of a real pipe organ, it can sound very convincing indeed.

My hopes are that vpo’s and my efforts with them will help more people enjoy the wonderful instrument that the Organ really is.

Swell box model comparison

Here comes nine test recordings of three swell box models for GO. One model is the current amplitude only based version and the other two are the two contenders. One is a shelf filter based version and the other a low pass filter version. The code patches for the two alternatives can be found in the developers mailing list at https://sourceforge.net/p/ourorgan/mailman/ourorgan-developers/. Listen to the test recordings and try to rate the swell box performances of the different versions. They are in no particular order!

Recently another type of swell box model for GO has been tested. Below is recordings of similar sounds played on GO using both the standard and the experimental swell box modeling. The same sampleset with exactly same settings and registrations have been used. Of theses recordings two are done with different versions of the new model.
